Palo Alto · Neuropathy Treatment
Neuropathy treatment in Palo Alto.
Burning, tingling and numbness in the feet and hands — assessed and treated without drugs or surgery.
Find what is affecting the nerve first.
Neuropathy makes walking, sleeping and standing at the counter harder every month, and the usual answer is a prescription that dulls it. Diabetes, chemotherapy, nerve compression, circulation problems and several other causes can be behind it — and they are treated differently.
At the Palo Alto clinic we assess what is compressing or starving the nerve, and which non-drug options apply. Depending on the cause, those may be shockwave, electromagnetic transduction therapy (EMTT), Class 4 laser, or ultrasound-guided nerve hydrodissection. Which of these fits depends entirely on the diagnosis.
Read our full guide to shockwave therapy and EMTT and Class 4 laser therapy, or see the Palo Alto clinic page for the map and directions.
Who it suits
An evaluation is worth your time if you have
- Burning, tingling or numbness in the feet, hands or both
- Symptoms that are worse at night or keep you from sleeping
- Been offered gabapentin or a similar drug and want a different approach
- Started losing balance or confidence on stairs and uneven ground
- Been told there is nothing more to do
It does not work for everyone. Longstanding nerve damage responds less well than recent symptoms, and we will say so at the evaluation.

Palo Alto clinic pageNeuropathy Treatment in Palo Alto — common questions
What causes peripheral neuropathy?
Diabetes, chemotherapy, nerve compression, circulation problems and several other causes — and they are treated differently. Establishing which one applies to you is the point of the evaluation.
Is this a replacement for my medication?
No. We do not change prescriptions your physician has made. We assess whether non-drug treatment can address the underlying nerve problem alongside the care you already have.
What treatments might apply?
Depending on the cause: shockwave, electromagnetic transduction therapy, Class 4 laser, or ultrasound-guided nerve hydrodissection. Which of these fits depends entirely on the diagnosis.
Does it work for everyone?
No, and we will say so at the evaluation rather than after a course of treatment. Longstanding nerve damage responds less well than recent symptoms.
