Could Baldness Be Cured By Human Growth Factors?

By July 23, 2019Uncategorized

Hair loss.

The boogie man that is out to destroy the confidence of men across the world.

Unless you’re Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson or have a Jason Statham-esque look to yourself, you (like many men) worry about going bald.

Some more than others, but it is an insecurity all men share nonetheless.

By the age of 35 many men will have experienced some form of hair loss.

It can be as simple as a slightly receding hairline to full on male pattern baldness.

There are many techniques men have used to combat balding, things such as medications like Finasteride or Rogaine.

Other’s have opted to go the hair transplant route.

The thing about medications is, they’re not a long term solution.

Eventually they lose their effectiveness and hair loss will continue.

At the moment hair transplants are much more effective, especially with the available technology today.

We don’t have much evidence of the long term efficacy of these transplants but at the moment they are your best bet for retaining a full head of hair.

What if you don’t want to take medications that can have effects such as loss of drive and libido.

Or you don’t want to go the invasive route and receive hair transplant surgery?

Well, there could be a new route to choose because of stem cells.

Okay, not EXACTLY stem cells but growth factors much like exosomes.

They’re called “Dermal Papilla” and they directly affect the length, thickness, and growth cycle of your hair.

Scientists successfully used a 3D biodegradable scaffold built out of the same material used in dissolvable stitches on hairless mice to successfully grow dermal papilla cells within the mice which in turn resulted in hair growth.

There is much to learn and still long term results we will need to see but it’s a very promising look into one of the many ways human growth factors can be used to potentially rid human beings of ailments they have had for as long as we can remember.
